Köpenick forest chapel

Historical monument

... was built in 1909/10 using donations from the citizens of Hessenwinkel at the time, based on a design by architects Peter Jürgensen and Jürgen Bachmann, who also drew up the plans for Schöneberg Town Hall and the Tabor Church in Wilhelmshagen. Today, the chapel is looked after by the “Friends of the Forest Chapel” with the support of the Berlin Monument Protection Foundation.

Gerhart-Hauptmann Museum Erkner

Literarische Vergangenheit

Gerhart Hauptmann lived in Villa Lassen, in the center of Erkner, from 1885 to 1889. His sons were born here and it was here that he found his vocation as a poet. His first notable works were also written in these rooms - the novellas “Fasching” and “Bahnwärter Thiel”. Erkner served as the setting for a number of other works, e.g. “Der Biberpelz”.

Old fishing village Rahnsdorf

Dorfcharme & Geschichte

Rahnsdorf is located on the way between Berlin-Friedrichshagen and Erkner and was first mentioned in 1375. The “old fishing village of Rahnsdorf” is located a little off the main road Fürstenwalder Allee and offers a charming sight with its church.

Rüdersdorf Museum Park

Experience industrial culture

Berlin is held together by Rüdersdorf lime. Both the Brandenburg Gate and the apartment buildings in Prenzlauer Berg were built with Rüdersdorf sand-lime brick. The museum park is dedicated to the long history of sand-lime brick mining, lime production and the building materials industry.

Köpenick Castle

Baroque jewel

The only original baroque palace in Berlin-Brandenburg is located on the palace island in Köpenick's old town. Built between 1680 and 1690 on the remains of a Slavic castle and a Renaissance palace, it served the Prussian King Frederick I as a summer residence and hunting lodge.

Köpenick Town Hall

Gothic architectural splendor

The town hall is located in the “Alt-Köpenick” district in the oldest street, the former Schlossstraße. It was built between 1901 and 1904 and is in the Brandenburg brick Gothic style with a five-part decorative gable and a 54-meter-high tower.
